In the wider region of the Bohemian Forest there are many attractions for every type of visitor. The entire area is part of the protected landscape of the Bohemian Forest, which is also home to the Bohemian Forest National Park – one of the largest protected areas in Central Europe, known for its deep forests, peat bogs, lakes, and unspoiled nature. One of the main highlights is the Lipno Treetop Walkway, offering unique panoramic views over the Lipno region, the Bohemian Forest, and even the Alps on clear days. Another very popular destination is the historic town of Český Krumlov, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring a castle, charming medieval streets, restaurants, and a rich cultural program. In winter, the region is ideal for cross-country skiing, family skiing at the Lipno resort, and trips to the nearby Austrian ski area Hochficht. Thanks to this variety, the region offers year-round opportunities for active holidays, relaxation, and sightseeing.

Šumava is one of the most beautiful natural areas in the Czech Republic, offering plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities and exploration. Boubín Primeval Forest – a unique forest reserve with an educational trail and a lookout tower on Mount Boubín (1,362 m). Černé and Čertovo Lakes – glacial lakes surrounded by mountains, perfect for hiking trips. Modrava and Kvilda – picturesque mountain villages and great starting points for hiking, cycling, or cross-country skiing. Vltava River spring – the symbolic beginning of the Czech Republic’s longest river, accessible from Kvilda. Plešné Lake and Plechý Mountain – a rewarding hike to a glacial lake and the highest peak of the Czech Šumava (1,378 m). Treetop Walkway Lipno – a wooden trail above the forest with panoramic views of the Lipno Dam and the Alps. Kašperk Castle – a Gothic castle founded by Emperor Charles IV, offering scenic views of the surrounding landscape. Schwarzenberg Canal – a historic waterway connecting the Vltava and Danube, with interpretive walking trails. Jezerní Slat (Lake Moorland) – accessible peat bogs with a viewing tower and rich local flora and fauna. Šumava is ideal for lovers of nature, peace, and active holidays all year round.

The region offers trips to the surrounding area: Orlík Castle, Zvíkov Castle (the cruise ship dock is located in Podskali), the nearby Celtic hillfort Žíkovec (beautiful view of Orlické Lake), the Celtic hillfort Nevězice, Celtic mounds in the nearby forest, romantic trips to forest canyon-like gorges (Žebrákovský stream, Hrachovka stream, Mlýnský stream, etc.), gold-bearing streams in the area (gold panning), the old gold mine near Voltýřov (Na Haldách), the Milada lookout tower, the Onen Svět lookout tower, the Mining Museum and open-air museum - Příbram, the ruins of Vrškamýk castle, the pilgrimage site Svatá hora - Příbram and many other interesting places. The information center in nearby Klučenice houses a very interesting regional museum (we recommend visiting). There are also two shops and two restaurants and a bus stop here.
