Skiareál Klínovec

Skiareál Klínovec

Loučná pod Klínovcem

Skiareál Klínovec is a modern and dynamic ski resort situated in the Krušné hory (Ore Mountains). Together with the neighbouring German resort of Fichtelberg, it forms an extensive network of perfectly groomed ski slopes of varying difficulty levels. It is also connected to the nearby Skiareál Boží Dar - Neklid.

Access to Skiareál Klínovec is available from Jáchymov or from Loučná pod Klínovcem. Visitors may park their cars directly at the lower stations of the ski lifts and cable cars, which will transport them up the Klínovec mountain.

At Skiareál Klínovec, visitors can enjoy nearly 50 kilometres of slopes. Every visitor may choose a route that suits their individual abilities. Thanks to continuous development, both the southern and northern sides of Klínovec are now interconnected, meaning there is nothing to prevent visitors from trying out all the ski routes that Skiareál Klínovec has to offer. There are 5 chairlifts and 6 ski lifts available.

On the southern side of Klínovec, one of the longest ski slopes in the country is located. The new Jáchymovská sjezdovka is 3 kilometres long and, with a width of up to 100 metres, can accommodate a truly large number of skiers. For hungry and thirsty visitors, refreshments and a bar are also available on the southern side. A ski school, a service centre, and a rental shop for all skiing and snowboarding equipment are also located there.

Thanks to the completion of the Skiareál Klínovec - Jih area, access for motorists from Plzeň and Karlovy Vary has been accelerated. Visitors from these directions save up to 20 kilometres compared to having to travel all the way to the northern side of the resort.

The northern side of Klínovec also offers comfortably wide slopes, which are suitable for both experienced skiers and those who are just learning the sport. Here, too, visitors may make use of the services of a ski school, a service centre, or a rental shop.

A multitude of obstacles and jumps of varying difficulty levels can be found in the snowpark, where visitors can test their abilities. For children, a children's ski lift and a children's ski park are provided. If childcare is required to allow visitors to fully enjoy the skiing themselves, a babysitting service is available. Even though the southern and northern sides of Klínovec are interconnected for skiing, a ski bus is also available, which can be used to travel, for instance, back to one's car.

During the summer, Skiareál Klínovec also offers a multitude of sports and tourism activities. One might, for example, head to the lookout tower and admire the view of the entire Krušnohoří region. In addition to hiking, visitors may also go on cycling trips or rent a mountain scooter or a bicycle. Visitors can be transported up the hill by cable car and then simply enjoy the wind in their hair.

There is truly a great deal that Skiareál Klínovec can offer. Thanks to constantly improving services and the expansion of the resort, it is a place not only for a winter holiday, but activities can be found here throughout the entire year. All that remains is to plan when to head there.

A 330-meter-long blue ski slope is available for beginners and children, while advanced skiers can make use of the more demanding 490-meter-long red ski slope. The shorter slope is illuminated, which enables evening skiing. For lovers of other winter pleasures, a snowtubing track and a practice meadow for the youngest visitors are also available.

How to Get There

Kraslice

A sporting challenge and year-round fun in the Krušné hory mountains

The Lyžařský areál Saporo, also known as the Ski a Trail Park Saporo, is located in the Karlovarský kraj region on the outskirts of the town of Kraslice. The resort is situated at the foot of Sněženský vrch and is characterised by its red-marked, one-kilometre-long ski slope, which primarily appeals to more advanced skiers. The resort uniquely combines winter operations for downhill skiing with summer operations as a modern trail park for mountain biking, ensuring sporting opportunities throughout the year.

Ski areál Saporo was founded in 1972, with significant modernisations taking place in the late 1980s, and lighting for the slope was added in 2006. The lift boarding area lies at an altitude of 580 metres above sea level, and the upper part of the slope reaches an altitude of 742 metres above sea level, representing a total vertical drop of 162 metres. The single downhill track is 1 kilometre long and is classified as a red slope due to its difficulty. Transport for skiers is provided by a fast TATRAPOMA-type lift, 760 metres long, with a capacity of approximately 900 persons per hour. Thanks to the lighting, the popular option of night skiing is also available here. Since 2020, the resort has expanded its offer with summer operations, when the lift is used to transport cyclists to the Trail Park Saporo, which offers both natural and artificially built tracks for DH-downhill and MTB-Enduro.

How to get to the resort

The resort is located by the main road leading from Kraslice in the direction of Luby. For arrival by car, there is a large car park located on the right side of the road (when travelling from the centre of Kraslice), while the access to the slope is located opposite. It is possible to reach Kraslice by bus lines as well as by train. The Kraslice railway station, which is connected to the surrounding network in the Krušné hory mountains, is within a reasonable distance for use.

What to discover in the vicinity

The town of Kraslice and its surroundings in the Krušné hory mountains offer tourists a wealth of activities. Directly from Saporo, it is possible to connect to a network of cycling routes and walking trails leading into the surrounding forests and onto the ridges. Given its location in the central part of the western Krušné hory, it is possible to use the extensive network of marked tourist trails of the Klub českých turistů (KČT). For example, the nearby Sněženský vrch can be reached via unmarked forest paths, connecting to a network that continues further to popular spots such as the Ski centrum Bublava or the areál Lišák Stříbrná, where marked blue and red tourist trails can be found.

The Lyžařský areál a trail park Saporo effectively uses its location and technical facilities to offer year-round sporting activities for both skiers and bikers in the Krušné hory mountains.
