In the settlement of Studénka near Radvanice, on the northern slope of the Jestřebí Mountains near Trutnov, you will find a smaller ski area ideal for families and beginners. It offers fun with three ski tows, evening skiing, and comfortable facilities without the need to travel far into the mountains.

Winter fun in a friendly atmosphere

You can enjoy skiing without stress or long waits. The resort offers three ski lifts tailored to all skill levels. From a large 400-meter lift with a 100-meter vertical drop for more experienced riders, to a medium 170-meter option for beginners and children, and finally a small 100-meter lift dedicated exclusively to the little ones. Perfect slope conditions are maintained through regular grooming with a snowcat, and technical snowmaking is used whenever necessary. If you would like to enjoy skiing under the stars, the resort is illuminated for night skiing three times a week. Complete facilities are a matter of course, where you will find a ski bar, ski and snowboard rental, a ski school, and a free parking lot with a capacity of 60 to 70 cars.

This resort is perfect for families with children and beginner skiers looking for a comfortable, clear, and safe environment. If you are one of those who prefer a friendly approach and calmer skiing over large, bustling centers, you will feel very comfortable here. Although the approach to the resort is flat and convenient, the slopes themselves offer a gentle incline that will pleasantly warm you up with every run. We would like to inform visitors that due to the nature of the resort, bringing dogs is not particularly suitable, in order to ensure the safety of all skiers on the slope.

How to get here and what’s nearby

The ski tow is located about 17 km from Trutnov, accessible by car or bike, with parking right at the area. It connects to cross-country skiing trails suitable also for winter hiking. It can easily be combined with trips to the rock town of Adršpach – skiing followed by a walk makes for a perfect winter day.

Thanks to high-quality artificial lighting, visitors can enjoy the popular evening skiing here and pleasantly extend their winter day. In addition to classic skiing, Nebíčko also thinks of lovers of other snow activities, sledging enthusiasts or snowboarding aficionados will find satisfaction here, with fun obstacles such as a rail or a T-BOX awaiting them. Provided current snow conditions permit, tracks for cross-country skiers are also usually maintained in the surrounding area.

From an operational perspective, it is good to know that partial wheelchair accessibility to the lift is ensured and the slope itself is easily accessible. For hygienic and safety reasons, however, entering the resort with a dog is prohibited.

The journey to the winter resort of Nebíčko is much easier than it might seem. Parking for visitors is prepared in the immediate vicinity of the lift, right next to the popular cycling routes leading from Police nad Metují, making the location easily accessible both by car and for those who set out on a shorter winter walk on foot. Furthermore, the resort offers a great combination of sporting activities and nature discovery from here, visitors can easily continue on winter trips to nearby Adršpašsko or the deep Broumovské stěny, which offer a unique spectacle in their winter attire.

Ideal for families and beginners

Ski areál Svoboda nad Úpou is the smallest and most tranquil centre within the SkiResort ČERNÁ HORA – PEC complex. It is situated in the picturesque town of Svoboda nad Úpou in the Krkonoše Mountains, at an altitude ranging from 530 to 600 metres above sea level. Thanks to its gentle slopes, the resort is specifically designed for families with children and beginner skiers who are seeking a safe environment for their first skiing attempts.

The centre offers three ski slopes with a total length of approximately 1.1 kilometres. There are three blue (easy) slopes available: Duncan 1 (350 metres), Duncan 2 (350 metres) and the U lesa slope (350 metres). Transport for skiers is provided by three Poma-type ski lifts with a total capacity of approximately 2,000 persons per hour. The lifts are named Duncan (350 metres), U lesa 1 (250 metres) and U lesa 2 (350 metres). All slopes are equipped with an artificial snow-making system and are regularly groomed. On selected days, usually from Thursday to Saturday during the main season, evening skiing is also available on the Duncan 1 and Duncan 2 slopes. The resort also includes a children's ski school and an equipment rental shop.

How to get there

Ski areál Svoboda nad Úpou is located directly in the town of Svoboda nad Úpou, which lies on the main E67 road between Trutnov and Pec pod Sněžkou. A free car park with sufficient capacity is available to visitors directly at the resort. It is also possible to reach the town by public transport. The nearest bus stop is Svoboda nad Úpou, náměstí, from where it is a short walk to the resort. Svoboda nad Úpou also has a railway station on the Trutnov – Svoboda nad Úpou line, from where it is also possible to continue on foot. Within the SkiResort ČERNÁ HORA – PEC, connections between the resorts are provided by ski buses during the main season, which stop in the town.

What you can discover in the surroundings

Svoboda nad Úpou serves as an ideal starting point for exploring the eastern Krkonoše Mountains. Tourists may ascend to the landmark of the Krkonoše, Sněžka (1,603 m a.s.l.), to which marked tourist trails lead, or take a cable car from nearby Pec pod Sněžkou. In the neighbouring Janské Lázně, there is the Stezka korunami stromů Krkonoše and a cabin cable car to Černá hora. Hiking trails will also lead you to the Modré kameny lookout, offering views of the Krkonoše. For history lovers, the town offers the Pohádkové Krkonoše – an exhibition of Krkonoše fairy-tale characters. Near Svoboda nad Úpou, visitors can also discover the lesser-known natural phenomenon of Svobodský kras, which includes, for example, the Medvědí jeskyně.
