Ski areál Kozinec

Jilemnice

The cradle of Czech skiing

The Ski areál Kozinec is located in the Krkonoše mountains, in the Hrabačov district, just one kilometre from the town of Jilemnice. This smaller yet popular resort sits at an altitude of 450 to 520 metres above sea level and is an ideal choice for beginners, families with children, and recreational skiers. Jilemnice, as the historical centre of Czech skiing, gives this place a specific atmosphere.

The resort offers one main downhill slope with a total length of 490 metres. The slope is classified as blue in difficulty, is beautifully wide, and is suitable for learning first turns as well as improving one’s technique. Transport for skiers is provided by one Tatrapoma FP ski lift with a capacity of 600 persons per hour, which fully meets the resort’s needs. Thanks to artificial lighting, evening skiing is also available. A Snowpark with daily groomed obstacles is prepared for snowboarders. The slopes are regularly equipped with artificial snow and are groomed. Directly from the upper station of the lift, it is possible to join maintained cross-country skiing trails spanning several tens of kilometres, such as the Buď fit circuits or the Na Hraběnce – Střelnice route.

How to get there

The Ski areál Kozinec is located in the Jilemnice – Hrabačov district, near the road towards Harrachov. On the approach route from Jilemnice, one must turn left after the railway tracks. A free car park is available for visitors directly at the lower lift station. The nearest railway station is Jilemnice, located approximately 1.5 km away, from where it is possible to continue on foot or via local transport.

What you can discover in the surroundings

Jilemnice and its surroundings in the western Krkonoše offer rich opportunities for year-round tourism. Directly in the town of Jilemnice, one can find the Krkonošské muzeum located in the historical chateau, where, among other things, the unique Metelkův mechanický betlém is on display. Another tourist attraction is the collection of folk architecture known as Zvědavá ulička. In the vicinity of the resort, there is a great opportunity to set out on a hike to the Žalý peak, where the rozhledna Žalý stands, offering panoramic views of the Krkonoše. A few kilometres from Jilemnice lies the Zámek Horní Branná, associated with the stay of Jan Amos Komenský. For skiing in the wider area, it is possible to visit larger ski resorts such as the Ski areál Benecko or the Ski areál Herlíkovice.

SkiResort Černá hora - Pec

SkiResort Černá hora - Pec

Pec pod Sněžkou

Do you know which ski resort is currently the largest in Bohemia? Yes, it is SkiResort Černá hora - Pec, where visitors may ski on more than 50 kilometres of slopes of varying difficulty. The entire SkiResort consists of 6 interconnected ski areas - in addition to SkiResort Černá hora - Pec, this includes Skiareál Janské Lázně, Skiareál Černý Důl, Skiport Velká Úpa, Skiareál Svoboda nad Úpou, and Skiareál Malá Úpa. All resorts can be accessed using a single skipass.

During the summer, the range of activities is equally wide. Three cable cars are available, allowing visitors to enjoy magnificent views of the surrounding countryside. We also recommend climbing the Hnědý vrch lookout tower, or increasing your adrenaline levels by riding a mountain scooter. Children will certainly be delighted by the bungee climbing wall, trampoline, or go-karts.

During the winter season, visitors to SkiResort Černá hora - Pec can choose from a truly vast number of slopes. Most of them are marked in red according to their difficulty level. A shorter black slope is also available for the truly daring. Blue slopes are also on offer for recreational skiers and all those who are not yet entirely confident in their skiing abilities.

In addition to using one's own skis, ski buses are available to assist with transport between the individual resorts. And if skiing is not your preferred activity, other forms of exercise can be chosen in SkiResort Černá hora - Pec, such as sledging along a specially prepared route or guided sledging. Trips on snowshoes, ski mountaineering, or snowtubing are also very popular.

If you have set out for the mountains with small children, skiing while supervising your little ones may seem difficult. We therefore recommend using the popular babysitting service. Your child will be cared for, allowing you to ski on the snow-covered hills with peace of mind.

Ski and snowboard equipment rental shops are, of course, available to visitors of SkiResort Černá hora - Pec, so you can arrive "lightly," so to speak. High-quality service ensuring perfect maintenance is also a standard feature. Consequently, nothing will surprise you on the slopes.

If you are a skiing beginner or wish to refine your technique, we recommend using the ski school or a private ski instructor. Entrusting yourself to the hands of an expert is nothing to be ashamed of. You will see that results are certain to follow.

To perfect your skiing skills, one day is certainly not enough. If your efforts are to be worthwhile, a longer holiday in the Krkonoše mountains is recommended, which can be spent not only on skiing but also on other activities that our most famous mountains offer.

We are happy to assist you in planning your stay. As this is the most visited winter location, we offer a diverse range of accommodation near SkiResort Černá hora - Pec as well as in the wider surrounding area. Hotels and guesthouses can be found here, while mountain cottages in the Krkonoše or apartments in Pec pod Sněžkou are very popular - choose what suits you best and set off on your next winter holiday to visit the guardian of the mountains, Krakonoš! You will not regret it!
