Accommodation Trojský zámek

Trojský zámek is located in our capital city, specifically in the Troja district, which lies on the right bank of the Vltava river. This Baroque pearl was built between 1679 and 1691 and represents one of the most significant examples of Baroque architecture in the Czech Republic. The chateau is surrounded by a magnificent garden that slopes down towards the river and offers beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. One would hardly guess that Prague, with its more than 1.3 million inhabitants, lies all around it.

Trojský zámek was commissioned by Count Václav Vojtěch ze Šternberka, a prominent Czech nobleman who wished to create a residence whose beauty and elegance would rival chateaus in Italy and France. After the completion of the construction, the Šternberk family resided here until the 18th century, when the chateau passed into the hands of other noble families. After the Second World War, the chateau was nationalised and became state property. Currently, it is managed by the Galerie hlavního města Prahy and is accessible to the public as a museum.

One of the most interesting parts of Trojský zámek is its richly decorated interiors, especially the frescoes by the painter Giovanni Battista Allei, which adorn the chateau's main hall. These frescoes depict the battles of the Titans with the Olympian gods and are among the most significant works of Baroque painting in the Czech Republic. The frescoes have been carefully restored and are now one of the main attractions for visitors.

Trojský zámek offers visitors several tour options, allowing them to discover not only the beauty of the chateau itself but also its rich history and works of art. Classic guided tours are available, during which a guide leads visitors through the chateau's interiors and provides detailed information about its history, as well as thematic tours focusing on specific aspects of Baroque architecture or art. Throughout the year, various exhibitions and musical performances also take place.

These primarily include Zoologická zahrada Praha, which is one of the oldest and best zoos in Europe, and Botanická zahrada Praha, which offers a beautiful exhibition of various plant species from around the world. Another point of interest is Planetárium Praha, which is an ideal place for young explorers, as are Mořský svět or Krokodýlí ZOO.
