Where to go on a trip Bílá Třemešná

Safari Park Dvůr Králové

Safari Park Dvůr Králové

Dvůr Králové nad Labem

Safari park Dvůr Králové, which was founded in 1946 as ZOO Dvůr Králové and renamed in 2018, is one of the most visited places in the Trutnov district. It is situated in the southwestern part of Dvůr Králové nad Labem and focuses primarily on African animals, of which it holds the largest collection in Europe. It is a world leader in the breeding of endangered animals and their reintroduction into their natural habitats.

Just beyond the entrance gate, you will be transported directly to Africa. Visitors can see the largest herd of giraffes bred outside the African continent, as well as various other animals such as rhinoceroses, gorillas, hippos, and meerkats. It is possible to visit the savannah, discover life on a coral reef, on Madagaskar, or in a South African village.

In the Africké safari, you will drive among zebras, giraffes, and antelopes, and there is also a unique opportunity to enter a pride of lions in the Lví safari. All the animals are almost within reach – without bars, separated from you only by a glass wall or a moat. The entire safari park is thematically fine-tuned to African perfection, thanks to summer African festivals, tastings of typical dishes, and concerts featuring African music.

An experience for both young and old is certainly the opportunity to become a zookeeper for a day or to get to know the park "through the back door." Other top attractions at Safari Park Dvůr Králové include a rope park, interactive stations, and children's playgrounds. An abundance of fast food outlets, restaurants, souvenir shops, and sanitary facilities are a matter of course.

The main administrative building of the safari park houses a permanent exhibition of the painter Zdeněk Burian with prehistoric themes. His paintings have been declared a national cultural monument. Thus, art lovers will also find something to enjoy.

It is certainly clear that Safari Park Dvůr Králové is a place that will become an experience of a lifetime for you. Choose from our offer of suitable accommodation near Safari Park Dvůr Králové and set off on new adventures.

Krakonošova kašna

Krakonošova kašna

Trutnov

The town of Turnov is one of the district towns in the Královéhradecký kraj. As in every proper centre, visitors will find a landmark in the town square here as well. In Trutnov, this is represented by the Krakonošova kašna (Krakonoš Fountain), which, among other things, points to the proximity of our largest mountain range, the Krkonoše. Originally, until 1605, only a smaller wooden fountain stood here, which was subsequently replaced by a new one. A dragon made of white sandstone stood out on it, and for this reason, it was called the Dračí studna (Dragon Well). In 1892, it was replaced by the Krakonošova kašna.

The author of the design was a professor at the Trutnov secondary technical school, J. Kirschner. The fountain consists of a granite basin and a sandstone core. And, of course, there is also a metal sculpture of the mountain guardian, Krakonoš. Interestingly, a tin box containing documentary information about this structure was placed in the central part of the well.

The original statue of Krakonoš was manufactured at the A. Castner art foundry in Berlin. However, as it was already considerably damaged by age and weather conditions over time, it was replaced in 2001 by a bronze replica from the workshop of J. Janeček from Vamberk. Since 2015, Krakonoš has been joined by four dwarf companions, so-called gnomes. Their creator is the Trutnov native P. Skavová.

The Krakonošova studna (Krakonoš Well) is a wonderful place for relaxation. Visitors are invited to stop here during their wanderings through Trutnov and soak up the atmosphere. The surrounding picturesque historical houses and their arcades will also provide shelter in case of wind or rain.

Should the weather be unfavourable, it is recommended to "take cover" while also learning something new at the Muzeum Podkrkonoší. It will introduce several gems of the Trutnovsko region in the form of replicas of castles, chateaux, and rural homesteads. Conversely, on a hot summer day, pleasant refreshment can be found at the MEBYS Trutnov summer swimming pool.

So, would you like to see the lord of the mountains, Krakonoš, or visit another one of Trutnov's attractions? What is holding you back? Plan your holiday and start looking for suitable accommodation in the Trutnovsko region. There are many options here; family cottages, comfortable apartments, and even multi-star hotels or guesthouses will provide a place where you can rest your head at night and recharge your energy for a new day full of experiences. And if you wish to start your tour with the aforementioned icon of the Trutnov square, finding suitable accommodation near the Krakonošova kašna will not be difficult with the help of the MegaUbytko portal. We wish you a pleasant stay!

Zámek Trutnov

Zámek Trutnov

Trutnov

Zámek Trutnov. This is a town castle transformed into a place of history and culture

On the site where a castle stood in the 13th century (some references even mention the year 1260), there is now a Renaissance-style building housing the Muzeum Podkrkonoší v Trutnově. The castle underwent numerous reconstructions – it experienced a significant Renaissance renovation in the first half of the 16th century and was destroyed after the Thirty Years' War.

What the château offers

The château building combines a historical atmosphere with modern use. In its basement, there are preserved remains of the original castle premises, which are currently used as a restaurant and music club. The upper floors of the building are dedicated to the Muzeum Podkrkonoší, which engagingly presents the rich history of the entire region through modern exhibitions.

Who is the château intended for

The château is an ideal destination for visitors who wish to explore the history of the region not only through classic tours but also through vivid presentations and interactive elements. Families with children, school groups, and individual tourists seeking a cultural and educational experience will all find something of interest here. The entire facility is wheelchair accessible from the town centre. Due to the nature of the interior spaces, dogs are not permitted.

How to get here and what to discover in the surroundings

The château is located directly in the historical centre of Trutnov, easily accessible on foot or by car, with parking nearby. After your visit, you may continue exploring the history of the town, visit the Zámecký park, or set out to discover the natural and cultural corners of the region.

A place where the Middle Ages meets a museum

This structure is a witness to the transformations of Trutnov from a medieval castle to a Renaissance seat and finally to a modern museum. We invite you to come and be drawn into the stories of the stone, the exhibitions, and the life of the region throughout the ages.
